We are truly fortunate to be in Zahora, an environment that is still idyllic and still wild.
Zahora: Crystal clear waters, white sand beaches and magical sunsets

At Buena Onda Zahora you'll be just a stone's throw from the Trafalgar lighthouse and in the heart of the Costa de la Luz.
Buena Onda Zahora is very close to the iconic Trafalgar Lighthouse in the heart of the Costa de la Luz in Cádiz. We enjoy excellent weather year-round, moderated by our proximity to the ocean; summers are not too hot and summers not too cold. Just a few minutes from our location, you'll find miles of idyllic beaches stretching in both directions, offering something for everyone.
Zahora Beach is the closest one, and it’s almost empty in winter, but in summer it comes alive thanks to the beach bars along the shore. Luckily, there’s always space for those who prefer to stay away from the crowds.
Zahora is a small rural village, though it has a fairly busy street in summer (ironically known as “las ramblas”) and a handful of restaurants open during high season. Our favourite moment of the day is taking a walk along the beach at sunrise, when you feel like the only person in the whole village.
Most bars in Zahora close during winter, and nature takes back the beach. At this time of year you can enjoy long walks along the almost-empty shore all the way to Ohana or Las Dunas —the only bars open year-round. From there, you can watch kite or surf sessions while enjoying a drink right by the dunes.
Hiking lovers will find their place in La Breña, with viewpoints overlooking Los Caños and the lighthouse, or along a coastal path with views of Zahara de los Atunes and even Africa.
Very close to Zahora you’ll find Vejer de la Frontera, a must-visit destination. It’s one of the famous “pueblos blancos”, perched on top of a hill, with a maze of narrow white streets where you’ll want to get lost exploring Andalusian courtyards full of flowers, eco-friendly shops, and bars serving vegetarian or vegan food.
El Palmar is probably the liveliest area, a bustling mix of beachgoers, bars, restaurants, and plenty of surf schools. It’s an ideal place to learn to surf, as the beach is sandy with a gentle slope. In winter, if you’re lucky, you can catch great waves — even barrels when the swell is just right. It’s only a few minutes’ drive away and perfect for surfing at any level, grabbing a drink, and enjoying good food with live music.
Los Caños de Meca, the well-known “hippie” village par excellence, is just a few kilometres from Buena Onda Zahora. There, you can enjoy a relaxed and lively sunset atmosphere. Its little coves have the clearest waters in the area, well-sheltered and perfect for days when the wind blows stronger. Paddleboarding here is truly wonderful.
Los Caños stretches along the coast beneath the pine forest of La Breña, surrounded by bars, restaurants, and artisan markets that open only in high season.
La Jaima is a cliff-top bar overlooking the beach and an absolute must-stop if you want to enjoy some of the best Cádiz sunsets with a good cocktail menu in a beautifully decorated, Andalusian-style setting.
